This will make you think about life.

1)  The day my sister got back from the hospital after a suicide attempt. I didnt let go for about an hour.

2) Kid just found out his brother was shot and killed.

3) A Russian war veteran kneels beside the tank he spent the war in, now a monument.

4) Man sobbing at animal shelter. After being jailed briefly and his dog Buzz Lightyear impounded he couldn’t afford the $400 to get his pet back.

5) A firefighter gives water to a koala during the devastating Black Saturday bushfires that burned across Victoria, Australia, in 2009.

6) Alcoholic father with his son

7) Robert Peraza pauses at his son’s name on the 9/11 Memorial during the tenth anniversary ceremonies at the site of the World Trade Center.

8) Greg Cook hugs his dog Coco after finding her inside his destroyed home in Alabama following the Tornado in March, 2012

9) After two double lung transplants and years of battling cystic fibrosis, my good friend passed away last Saturday. This was one of the last pics taken with his mother.

Really important, Ladies and Gentlemen of Tumblr. This is the Circle of 6 app. It is available in both the iPhone and Android market, for free. It was created in response to a challenge presented by President Obama in 2011 to create an app that would help prevent abuse and sexual assault. I highly recommend downloading it. Once downloaded you add in six friends or family members nearby who could help you if you ever find yourself in a dangerous or uncomfortable situation. Once those are in it has the option to ask for a ride (with a link to a map with your GPS location), a phone call to interrupt the situation, or a message asking about a healthy relationship, which can signal friends and family to keep an eye out for unhealthy situations and potentially help you out of the relationship.
Furthermore there is an option to call abuse and rape hotlines.

I highly recommend that everyone download this app. And spread awareness so if a friend or family member ever gets a text with one of the pre-loaded messages not to treat it as a joke or some sick prank. It’s an app I only just heard about, despite having been out since March. Everyone should know about Circle of 6.

followers! this app is awesome and i highly recommend it.

“No student of color should have to walk up to their bike and see this. I came to Oberlin for an education and I am getting this. There are a group of people on campus trying to put fear in our hearts. They are failing. Little do they know, they are sparking a revolution. They were bothered by a Black presence before? Well, they must not know. The movement has just started, Oberlin. ”

What’s going on at Oberlin College right now is crazy. Someone was spotted wearing a full KKK-style hood and robe just earlier today, walking around the school casually (apparently in a part of the campus heavily trafficked by POC, according to a friend of mine who went there), which prompted the administration to cancel classes. This is 2013, people, and both racism and white supremacy are alive and well.

I’ll admit that, for a while, I didn’t think that inequality between men and women was there. Someone was speaking to me about it and I thought “Nah, you’re exaggerating. It’s not that bad. I’ve never noticed that”.

“Marina Abramovic and Ulay started an intense love story in the 70s, performing art out of the van they lived in. When they felt the relationship had run its course, they decided to walk the Great Wall of China, each from one end, meeting for one last big hug in the middle and never seeing each other again. at her 2010 MoMa retrospective Marina performed ‘The Artist Is Present’ as part of the show, a minute of silence with each stranger who sat in front of her. Ulay arrived without her knowing it and this is what happened.”

That’s on top of the fact they have set world records when they passed the A/AS-level math papers.Chris Imafidon, their father, said he’s not concerned about his youngest children’s ability to adapt to secondary school despite their tender age. “We’re delighted with the progress they have made,” he said. “Because they are twins they are always able to help and support each other.”To Peter and Paula’s parents, this is nothing new. The competition between the two of them makes them excel in anything they do.”

The reality is that so-called pro-life movement is not about saving babies. It’s about punishing women for having sex. That’s why they oppose birth control. That’s why they want to ban abortion even though doing so will simply drive women to have dangerous back alley abortions. That’s why they want to penalize women who take public assistance and then dare to have sex, leaving an exemption for those who become pregnant from rape. It’s not about babies. If it were about babies, they would be making access to birth control widespread and free and creating a comprehensive social safety net so that no woman finds herself with a pregnancy she can’t afford. They would be raising money for research on why half of all zygotes fail to implant and working to prevent miscarriages. It’s not about babies. It’s about controlling women. It’s about making sure they have consequences for having unapproved sex.
